These garden wood burners are hand worked from sheets of 2mm mild, or carbon, steel. The level of carbon introduced to this alloy, (approximately 0.2%), has been carefully balanced to provide durability, while ensuring it remains sufficiently malleable to achieve our distinctive bowl shape. These mild steel garden log burners offer a lower priced alternative to our Corten models, which feature a thicker gauge and have enhanced anti-corrosion properties. They’re going to, alternatively, still stand the test of time and have a stunning and unique aesthetic of their own. In a similar fashion to chimineas these outdoor fire pits offer a source of heat, even supposing unlike chimneas these garden fire pits provide warmth all of the way around – not just from a small opening. They are the more traditional offering for a patio heater. Mild steel will continue to rust as soon as it is exposed to the elements, your burner may arrive in an un-weathered, partially weathered or completely weathered state. The striking patina this creates will continue to develop over many months, so we do not recommend that these burners are placed on surfaces that are liable to stain as run-off may occur. As rust in reality forms its own protective seal, these burners will provide years of service. We recommend that this weathering process is left to occur in an effort to achieve the intended finish, particularly as galvanizing or regular oiling can prove costly and time consuming.
